This month I am starting a course for those of you who have completed an 8-week course and wish to explore and develop your practice further. Sessions will be held during the monthly drop-ins with each month having a different focus. There will be a practice to listen to at home to get you on the right track and these will be sent to you after each session.
Month One will explore focussing. We will look at ‘right concentration’ using various anchors to hold the attention and prepare ourselves for the rest of the course. The second month will look at opening the heart to our experience bringing awareness to how we contract around things we do not like and practice meeting all experience with equanimity.
The next month will look at what gets in the way of our practice. Traditionally called the hindrances, there are recognised ways of dealing with different sorts of difficulties. Gradually as our practice deepens, we will look at the interconnections that become apparent as our awareness of our own internal make-up grows. Month 5 will focus on the open-hearted awareness that comes through a sense of being at ease with our experience finishing with ways in which we can sustain practice as we live our daily lives – moving from eyes-closed practice to eyes-open practice.
